Students need to learn essential skills in order to succeed in the 21st Century.  As counselors, we should work on helping them learn not only the technology of today, but skills like advocating for themselves, eye contact, how to hold a conversation with someone not through technology mediums, etc.

The four 21st Century Skills include:

  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Creativity
  • Critical Thinking

For more information on preparing our students for the 21st Century workforce, please read the report entitled: Are They Really Ready To Work?
